Red Cross Blood Drive on Campus a Success

The American Red Cross joins the chorus of those sending congratulations to Coach Donnie Bostwick and his national championship Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles. What a remarkable achievement for the team and the school.

A national championship is the epitome of success in athletics and signifies a true winner. Not only is Gene Hartman an American Red Cross NAIA student leader, he’s also on the board of the local blood region. Through the actions of this exceptional student (and Oklahoma Wesleyan’s senior forward), the Eagles are winners in saving lives as well.

With two blood drives this year, the school with a little less than 500 on-site students collected 153 units of lifesaving blood, more than 30 percent of the school’s enrollment. Considering the national average is that only 8 percent of those that are eligible to give blood actually do, you can see why Oklahoma Wesleyan faculty, staff, and students are true-life winners to the Red Cross.

We offer our thanks to Gene for his leadership, the faculty and staff for urging student participation, Coach Bostwick for his support and all the students at Oklahoma Wesleyan. In a world where good news can seem hard to find we salute Oklahoma Wesleyan University, winners on and off the court.
