New Student E-mail System (via Google)

From OWU Computer Services:

We are excited to announce that all student email will be moving to the Google Apps system! Most addresses will stay the same (firstinitiallastname@okwustudents.edu), however a few may have been changed. You will receive an email containing your new username and a temporary password, which must be changed the first time you log in.

The new system will be in place on Monday, May 18. After this date, email will no longer be delivered to the previous webmail system but will instead be directed to the Google system. Unfortunately, we are unable to move your existing emails from your current inbox to the new system. If you wish to keep any emails you will need to login to the current system and save them yourself.

Financial Aid

A number of current and new students who have not completed their Financial Aid paperwork. This causes you and us a bit of frustration in moving through the registration process cleanly and quickly.

The key items are:

  1. Complete a free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2009-2010, if you haven’t yet.
  2. Complete the OKWU institutional financial aid application for 2009-2010.
  3. Make sure that you have completed your scholarship or renewal scholarship applications.

WARNING: Since you have to refile for aid annually, don’t assume that you will get the same aid package from one year to the next. Two areas of confusion that seem to arise each year include: (a) the belief that you are guaranteed your work study position each year (not true), and (b) that your paperwork will mysteriously show up annually in our office (you need to apply and make sure it is filed).
