Eagles Lose Home Opener

The Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s and women’s soccer teams are still searching for their first wins after a tough start to the season. The Eagles hosted Tabor College last Wednesday, September 2. It was the home opener for the OKWU teams.
In the women’s game, the Lady Eagles lost to Tabor by a score of 5-0. The game was close with in the first half, with Tabor having a slim 1-0 lead. The Lady Eagles, with several players missing due to injuries and sickness, fought hard but did not pull through.
On the men’s side, Tabor once again came out on top, winning 5-1. Tabor scored three unanswered goals before Eagle senior Brad Johnson scored late in the second half.
Tuesday’s games versus St. Gregory’s University were ended due to inclement weather. The men were never able to play and the women lost 3-2 with a little over nine minutes left when the game was called after the officials spotted lightening.
Both teams have a busy week ahead with two road games. On Thursday, the teams travel to Winfield, KS to take on Southwestern College. On Saturday, they head to Claremore to challenge Rogers State University, with the women playing at 6:00 p.m. and the men playing at 8:00 p.m.
The next home game will be September 22, when the Eagles face Central Baptist College. The women’s game will begin at 3:00 p.m. and the men’s game starts at 5:00 p.m.
