Alumni from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and antecedent schools will soon meet on the campus for Homecoming as OKWU celebrates its 100th anniversary from October 5-10, 2009.

Activities for students include Spirit Week and Slap-Stick. Slap-Stick is played from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday. The object of the game is to tag the person whose name you have and then go after the name they had and so on. The person with the most names at the end of the game wins a prize.

Events kick off with the dedication of the Roberts Fitness Annex at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 8. Following the dedication, the Homecoming Coronation ceremony will take place at 8:30 pm in the chapel.

Friday’s activities start out with the Homecoming Chapel at 10:10 am. The chapel speaker is Dr. Darrell Hermann, pediatric surgeon and graduate of Miltonvale Wesleyan College. The Alumni Park dedication ceremony will happen following the chapel service.

From 1:00 to 4:30 pm, Claudia Fletcher will be signing her book Out of Many, One Family in the Drake Library.

The dedication of the Janice and Charles Drake Library starts at 7:30 pm on the Pritchard Pergola and Patio.

Midnight Madness begins at 10 pm in the Mueller Sports Center. Activities include a preview of the OKWU Men and Ladies’ basketball teams along with OKWU cheer squad.

When asked about Midnight Madness, cheerleader, Rachel Ross, junior, said, “I’m excited about this scrimmage because it means basketball season is starting soon. I’m also looking forward to it because this will be our first time cheering together as the 2009-2010 squad.”

Saturday is chalk-full of activities. A men’s alumni soccer game at the sports field and alumni homerun derby at Doenges Stadium will take place at 9:00 am. The Lady Eagles soccer team will also play an alumni game at noon. The men play Ozark Christian College at 2:00 pm.
