Ask the Eagle
Question:
Is the hokey pokey really what its all about?
Answer:
Yes, in fact, it is. There is nothing better than standing in a circle with a bunch of your friends looking completely ridiculous.
Some may say that it is a pointless activity, second only to the Chicken Dance in embarrassment. However, sometimes it is just good to laugh at yourself and look like an idiot!
At least it was good for one thing, teaching you your left from your right when you were little.

Question:
Who are you anyway?
Answer:
Now that, I cannot tell you. That is the point. This is anonymous, you are not supposed to know who I am, just as I am not supposed to know who you are. I can tell you that I am a student at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and “I” am actually “we.” There are several people who write Ask the Eagle answers and if you read them all –like I hope you will—you will notice several different anonymous bylines (that is the name of the writer) attached to each answer. The byline tells you which of the writers you are reading. But sorry, you do not actually get to know who we are.

Question:
What do you do when you have a crush on a girl, but you are lost for words every time you try to have a conversation with her and you get that nervous feeling [like] when you were a kid?
Answer:
First of all, if you are worried about what she is thinking when you are around – you shouldn’t be. She probably doesn’t know that you are feeling nervous around her in the first place, so why even worry.
If you two are friends, you should have nothing to worry about. Just take a deep breath as soon as you see her and tell yourself she is just a girl. If you, however, are noticeably nervous around her (stuttering, avoiding eye contact, drooling) she will probably think something is up. At the same time – you shouldn’t expect her to have the same nervous feelings when she is around you, because odds are – she probably sees you only as a friend.
So, keep your cool and remember she is just a girl – a very special girl. Unless she is acting particularly flirtatious every time she is around you, I would not try to push the friendship any further – as this could just lead to making the relationship awkward for both of you. Be glad she is your friend and be hers – her calm, cool and very un-nervous friend.
