Since the first Thanksgiving when the natives and Pilgrims sat down to Thanksgiving dinner, Thanksgiving traditions have become a part of every American family.

Most American families today enjoy spending time together eating. Some families have traditions even while they are at the dinner table.

Hillary Williams, junior from Hennessey, OK says, “My grandpa was in WW2, and so every year for Thanksgiving he tells us a different war story after dinner.”

For her family, her grandpa’s stories are something to look forward to as she mentioned, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard the same story twice.”

Before and after the meal families not only spend time enjoying each others company while preparing the meal, and sharing stories but also by playing games and catching up.

Bruce Hull, sophomore from Mansfield, OH says, “We go to my cousins and play poker after dinner… I always win.”

Mark Weaver, a sophomore from Austin, TX, says his “…family all plays football, and someone always gets hurt.”

Whatever your family traditions are for the holidays, have fun and be safe!
