Preparation

Want to graduate? Here are some essential steps needed to get to Graduation Day.

Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) Commencement Planning

    1. Enroll at OWU.
    2. Pick a major. Being undecided is okay for awhile. Being undecided for a long time can cost you time and money.
    3. Visit the Student Advising Center for advice about career choices. Ask questions!
    4. Complete 8 semester graduation plan. If you change your major, fill out another graduation plan. Contact your Academic Advisor or the Student Advising Center.
    5. All students have Academic Advisors. Who is yours? Your Academic Advisor is your friend in academe (the academic world). Make appointments by phone or email; keep your appointments. Take advantage of Advising Days. Ask questions!
    6. Develop & practice self-discipline. Show you have it by going to classes (regularly on time) and doing assignments (consistently on time).
    7. Set high goals for yourself. Find out what it takes to be on the Dean’s List or the President’s List.
    8. Request a degree audit during your junior year to be sure you are on track.
    9. Fill out Graduation Application by May 1 for December graduation and by September 1 for May graduation.
    10. Plan for the future. Invite family and friends to be with you on your BIG day. Click here to see future graduation dates.
